The Beverly Fire Department has five Public Information Officers. Deputy Chief Peter O’Connor and Lieutenant Paul Rideout both joined the Beverly Fire Department in 1998 and developed the PIO office at the request of Chief Pierce in 2001. In 2008, Lieutenants Donald Philpot and Eric Fowler along with Firefighter Brian Latulippe were added.
The Public Information Officer’s primary duty is to disseminate information at the scene of an incident so that the Officer In Charge is free to focus more clearly on the incident. Additonally, the PIO's are responsible for disseminating information about upcoming events and incidents that occur throughout their shift to local media resources.
